Climbing Sliming



According to the Virginia Standards of Learning, a requirement of all 9th grade English students is to deliver an oral presentation both individually and in small groups.

What kind of activity would I devise to help my students meet this requirement?

Simple. The project would be problem-based. A mysterious life-form has infiltrated the school and is licking the stairs on a nightly basis.

It will be job of my elite task force of students to investigate probable mythological creatures and folklore explanations, the properties of saliva, examine and update the school policy to account for saliva-drenched stairs, and...um...figure out how to catch the dang creature using at least three security measures.

They'll totally go for it.
